Mehendi and its past and present styles

To begin with there are around 8 types of different mehendi applications i.e. the traditional in which flowers, vines, leaves, peacocks, heart etc. are incorporated. Another kind of mehendi application, which has become very popular in the past few years, is Arabic traditional designs. This mehendi application is done with chemicals and usually in two colours i.e. black and brown.Earlier mehendi could be applied only in one colour – saffron. now more than two to three shades can be created in shaded Arabic graphic mehendi. Two kinds of henna applications known exclusively to Indians are sindhi and Marwari mehendi. ‘In Sindhi style mehendi big, elaborate and uniform patterns are used like only flowers or a big peacock starting from the palm and his tall and feathers spreading till the wrist. In Marwari style mehendi , cheeran, chunari, jaali etc  is used to provide different shades.
