Henna Tattoos Causing Problems

A popular tourist novelty is causing some controversy.

Bay County commissioners are considering putting some limits on henna temporary tattoos, especially popular with the Spring Break crowd.

Health experts say the temporary tattoos can cause permanent damage.

Henna tattoos were designed for those folks who don’t want something permanent on their body.

Dr. Jason Newsom of the Bay County Health Department says, “The overwhelming majority of people believe there is no downside to these tattoos. They truly are temporary, that you’re not at risk for anything bad happening to you.”

Henna is very often used as a conditioner and natural hair color

henna on hair
Henna is very often used as a conditioner and natural hair color by many who want a lustrous shine in their hair. Being a natural product with absolutely no chemicals, Henna can be used by almost everyone for coloring hair without really fearing for any drastic side-effects. Since Henna is a natural conditioner, it will give your hair a very long lasting shine as well as a silky texture. You can also use Henna to cover any gray hair, though you may have to apply around 2-3 coats to get the desired results.

* First put a small amount in a bowl and mix it very finely into a soft paste with a mixture of lemon juice (2 lemons) and 10-12 drop of mustard oil. Do this much before you want to apply the paste since after mixing, you need to keep the paste for warming up for at least two hours. * If it is the first time you are applying henna, consider doing a strand test. Take a strand of hair and apply henna on it. Start applying from the roots to the tip.

Mehendi / Henna and Karva Chauth in India

As women get ready for “Karva Chauth”, a traditional festival when women keep fast for well-being of their husbands, everybody from the small-time Henna artists to upmarket beauty saloons are busy, creating beautiful and intricate designs on the palm and feet of married women. Henna or Mehndi, considered to be auspicious for married women, is a necessary part of the Karva Chauth ritual.

Women get intricate henna designs applied on their hands before they get down to the actual rituals. Before actually applying the henna, the designers outline the pattern or design in their mind. There are several ways to do this. Most traditional henna patterns are based on very simple shapes – circles, triangles and lines are the most basic. These shapes can be combined to create a very intricate pattern and a very beautiful henna design.
